The Romanovs

The Russian Revolution was one of the most important ‘events’ during the 20th century. Thanks to Amazon Prime Video and their new series The Romanoffs I had to go back to an old group where the execution of Czar Nikolai II and the rest of his family.

The series is about “A contemporary anthology series set around the globe featuring eight separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family” to quote IMDb. Even if these people are invented for the series there were quite a few imposters following the death of the Romanovs. To create and maintain a totally made-up personality  is a very Neptunian activity. Neptune is the Master Illusionist.

The last Romanov family from left to right: Grand Duchess Olga, Grand Duchess Maria, Czar Nicolas II, Czarina Alexandra, Grand Duchess Anastasia, Tsarevich Alexei and Grand Duchess Tatania.

As will be obvious soon both the family and all connected to execution are dominated by Neptune horoscopes, but I find Olga’s horoscope to be the most interesting. She was different in temperament from the other Romanov children.

Some quotes from Wikipedia: “Her chief characteristics … were a strong will and a singularly straightforward habit of thought and action”, wrote her mother’s friend Anna Vyrubova, who recalled Olga’s hot temper and her struggles to keep it under control. “Admirable qualities in a woman, these same characteristics are often trying in childhood, and Olga as a little girl sometimes showed herself willful and even disobedient.” Though she also loved Alexandra, her relationship with her mother was somewhat strained during her adolescence and early adulthood. “Olga is always most unamiable about every proposition, though may end by doing what I wish”, wrote Alexandra to Nicholas on 13 March 1916.

What has the astrology tradition to say about these four planets in a very tight group? Normally it can be quite difficult to interpret groups with three or more planets combined, but not so here. Mars, Uranus and the Sun is probably the most explosive trio in a horoscope. Of the three outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, Uranus is the most – perhaps even exclusively – extroverted of the trio.

From Grand Duchess Anastasia we enter Neptune territory.

So far we have 5 Neptune aspects which is not much above a random result of 3.7 But the results will improve as go further down. Initially I didn’t realize that there were also four employees executed in this ghastly event. Three of them are presented with day of birth.

Executives and Executioners

Following the February Revolution, the Romanov family and their loyal servants were imprisoned in the Alexander Palace before being moved to Tobolsk and then Yekaterinburg, where they were killed, allegedly at the express command of Vladimir Lenin.

According to historians Greg King and Penny Wilson, Ermakov played a leading role in the executions, and is considered to have been the right-hand man of chief executioner Yakov Yurovsky. On the night of the executions, Ermakov was very intoxicated, and according to the account by King and Wilson, was the most bloodthirsty of the executioners.

Goloshchyokin is said to have repeatedly paced back and forth along the perimeter palisade erected around the Ipatiev House in an attempt to determine if anyone could hear what was going on from outside as one of the Guardsmen revved the engines of the fiat truck waiting outside to mask the sounds of the gunfire, screams, and barking dogs. As the corpses were brought out from the house and loaded onto the truck, Goloshchyokin stooped down to examine the corpse of the Tsar, murmuring, “So this is the end of the Romanov Dynasty, is it…

The final result is 21 Neptune aspects in the horoscopes of people involved vs. 11.2 random aspects.
